Masters of Hip Hop: Nobody tops them, they are allowed to do that, they are big. On the actually planned day of the interviews at the Hyatt, they were so stoned that absolutely no interview was possible. The promoters said that the interviews could be done the next day, but the journos were “pissed” and took the return ticket.

The one who came back the next day was me. And both artists were still extremely stoned. And that’s why this portrait exists – two guys absolutely stoned, but also: absolutely self-confident. And with that: absolute representatives of a rock’n’roll lifestyle.

This was in 1999 – I saw the two of them performing at Große Freiheit 36 ​​on January 28th, 2004 as well.

The original is a medium-format slide. The print has a format of 100 x 150 cm.

Masters of Hip Hop: Denen kann keiner was, die dürfen das, die sind groß. Am eigentlich geplanten Interviewtag im Hyatt waren sie so dermaßen „stoned“ so das absolut gar nichts lief. Die Promoter meinten noch, dass man am nächsten Tag die Interviews machen könnte, doch die Journos waren „pissed“ und nahmen das Rückfahrticket. Der, der am nächsten Tag wieder zurückkam, war ich. Und immer noch waren beide Künstler mega bekifft. Und deshalb gibt es dieses Portrait – absolut stoned, aber auch: Absolut selbstbewusst. Und damit auch: Absolute Vertreter eines Rock’n’Roll-Lifestyle.

Das war im November 1999 – fünf Jahre später sah ich sie am 28.01.2004 in der Großen Freiheit 36 live.

Das Original ist ein Mittelformat Dia – Aufgenommen mit einer Mamiya 645pro und einer Briese-Lichtanlage. Das Bild in der Ausstellung hat das Format 100 x 150 cm.
