Nirvana, Kurt Cobain, Markthalle Hamburg Nov 11th, 1991
Frank Kroschewski was a college friend of mine and was the one who published the fanzine “Heft” with his brother Bernd: a photocopied black and white booklet with concert and CD reviews – actually made so that Frank and his brother could get on the guest lists and provided with Promo-CDs. The whole was absolutely independent.
Then I just went with them to the punk rock and indie rock concerts and started taking photos.
That was 1991, and somehow Andreas Schnoor, who was doing the booking at the market hall, liked me and told me that I could see every show. So I went to see Nirvana too – that was the tour where “Nevermind” became a top 10 album and every show was brutally sold out. Andreas met me in the entrance: “They took you off the guest list – I’m totally pissed and I’m leaving now. Here you have my pass.”

Frank Kroschewski war ein Studienfreund von mir und war der, der mit seinem Bruder Bernd das Fanzine „Heft“ herausgab: Ein fotokopiertes Schwarzweiß-Heft mit Konzert- und CD-Reviews – eigentlich gemacht, damit Frank und sein Bruder auf die Gästelisten kamen und mit Promo-CDs bemustert wurden. Absolut independent.
Ich bin dann einfach zu den Punkrock und Indierock-Konzerten mitgekommen und habe mal angefangen, zu fotografieren.
Das war 1991, und irgendwie hatte Andreas Schnoor, der das Booking in der Markthalle machte, einen Narren an mir gefressen und mir gesagt, dass ich mir jede Show ansehen könnte. Also bin ich auch zu Nirvana gegangen – Das war die Tour, bei der „Nevermind“ ein Top 10 Album wurde, und jede Show brutal ausverkauft war. Andreas kam mir schon im Eingang entgegen: „Sie haben Dich von der Gästeliste gestrichen – ich bin total genervt und hau jetzt ab. Hier hast Du meinen Pass“.
Das Original ist ein schwarz-weiß Negativ, das für die Ausstellung eingescannt wurde. Der Druck hat das Format 100 x 70 cm.
