Vernissage at Fabrik der Künste: 28 days left

This picture hangs, beautifully framed, in the hallway of my apartment and will be part of the exhibition:

How big could they have been – „Du bist Scheiße“ – “You’re Shit”: Isn’t that the anthem of bad bad girls? – and that’s exactly what should have been marketed: the combination of a girl band, hip hop, dirtyness, mixed with a good dose of street credibility and real German multiculturalism.

Instead, they tried to sell a BRAVO-magazine-compatible girl’s image. What a mistake. The could have been the first in Germany.

I was booked for a Universal gold award ceremony at a location on Große Freiheit –  for a moderate fee, BUT I was allowed to have my own little exclusive photo session at the Marriott. There, in the emergency exit, this portrait series was created that shows exactly what could have been the core of a lasting, true success: no cute girls, but real bitches, real girl power.

Wie groß hätten sie werden können – „Du bist Scheiße“: Ist das nicht die Hymne der bösen bösen Mädchen? – und genau das hätte man vermarkten müssen: Die Paarung aus Mädchenband, Hiphop, Dirtyness, gemischt mit einer ordentlichen Portion Street-Credibility und echtem deutschen Multikulti. Stattdessen versuchte man, ein BRAVO-kompatibles Mädchenbild zu verkaufen. Was für ein Fehler. Sie hätten die Ersten sein können.

Ich war damals gebucht für eine Goldverleihung der Universal, in einer Location an der Großen Freiheit. Für einen „schlanken Taler“ – durfte aber meinen eigenen kleinen exklusiven Fototermin im Marriott haben. Dort – im Notausgang – entstand diese Portraitserie die genau das zeigt, was man – „hätte hätte“ erfolgreich verkaufen können: Keine süßen Mädels, sondern echte Bitches und echte Girlpower.
